WB Group Unveils Warmate 30 Loitering Munition Drone System

"The Warmate 30 is classified as a loitering munition system designed to detect and engage high-value, time-sensitive targets at long range, with ability to [fully integrate] with the Gladius reconnaissance-strike system and the Topaz command system ensures continuous data exchange between platforms during real-time combat operations," WB Group said this week as it unveiled the jet-powered Warmate 30 at MSPO in Kielce.

Warmate 30 specifications and claimed performance

WB Group describes the Warmate 30 as a jet-powered loitering munition capable of carrying a 30 kg warhead. The company says the airframe uses a flying-wing configuration with flaperons and a composite structure intended to reduce radar and thermal signature. Propulsion is a Polish-made turbojet with a rocket booster; WB Group lists a top speed of 450 km/h (280 mph), a cruising speed above 150 km/h, an approximate range of 250 km and endurance of more than an hour. The system can operate in an attack mode that follows selected waypoints and loiters over a target, according to the company.

Integration with Gladius and Topaz command systems

WB Group positions Warmate 30 as part of a broader reconnaissance‑strike architecture. The company says the drone can fully integrate with the Gladius reconnaissance-strike system and the Topaz command system, enabling continuous data exchange between platforms during real-time combat operations. Gladius itself is described by WB Group as a system intended for battery formations and capable of employing various types of UAVs launched from ground vehicles equipped with a universal launcher or from a towed launcher.

Polish orders, deliveries, and the Gladius roll‑out

Publicly released data from Lt. Gen. Sławomir Owczarek, First Deputy General Commander of the Armed Forces, show that four Gladius battery-level fire modules have been delivered to the Polish Army. In May, WB Group signed a contract with Poland’s MND Armament Agency for 12 additional battery-level fire modules for unmanned reconnaissance and strike systems; the delivery schedule in that contract calls for three modules in 2028 and six in 2029, per WB Group’s reporting.

Export versions, restricted features, and NATO interest

WB Group CEO Piotr Wojciechowski acknowledged NATO interest in Gladius, but he warned that "certain solutions implemented in the system will only be available in the version for the Polish Armed Forces." Wojciechowski stressed that the Gladius offered to export customers will differ from the one offered to the Polish Army, "if only due to the specific requirements of other potential users." The company has also referred to Warmate 30 as Gladius 2, a designation that can mean either the drone itself or an upgraded version of the larger unmanned recon/strike system.

Prototypes, series production, and future Gladius variants

WB Group told reporters that the first Warmate 30 prototypes were produced and tested "since last year" and that the system is "entering series production" and "currently a finished product." The company said the decision to reveal the UAV at MSPO was affected by constraints imposed by the main customer and ongoing testing. WB Group is testing various Gladius 2 configurations, including versions with a booster for launch from a pad and versions without a booster.

Wojciechowski also confirmed R&D work on additional UAVs — Gladius 3 and Gladius 4 — but said "it is too early to reveal further details at this time." He added that the first of those follow‑on systems is scheduled for launch in 2027 and that its functionalities and features have been agreed upon with the Polish customer.

What this means for the Polish Army, NATO nations, and WB Group

  • Polish Army / MND Armament Agency: The record shows incremental fielding of Gladius battery modules—four already delivered and a 12‑module contract signed—so the armed forces will be receiving additional capability on a schedule that includes deliveries in 2028 and 2029.
  • NATO nations: WB Group reports interest from other NATO countries, but the company has made clear that export Gladius variants will differ from the Polish Armed Forces' version and that some solutions will be reserved for Poland.
  • WB Group: The company reports Warmate 30 prototypes have been tested and that mass production is beginning; it is also continuing R&D on additional Gladius-series UAVs and testing multiple launch and booster configurations.

The Warmate 30 brings a new, higher‑speed—jet powered—option to WB Group’s Warmate family, which already includes the smaller Warmate 5 loitering munition and the Warmate TL‑R reconnaissance drone. With prototypes under test, a manufacturer assertion of readiness for series production, and an existing procurement cadence for Gladius modules, the program’s next observable milestones will be planned deliveries in 2028–29 and the scheduled launch of subsequent Gladius variants in 2027.
