  • Office in virtualized environments: stability improvements for Office applications when used and closed in virtualized sessions.

New and rolling features: Voice Isolation, File Explorer navigation, touchpad controls, Widgets

Microsoft is gradually rolling out a set of feature enhancements with this preview:

  • Voice Access—the speech control feature—adds Voice Isolation to improve recognition by filtering other speakers and background noise. Voice Access now exposes three recognition modes under Voice Access settings → Improve speech recognition: Voice Isolation (one‑time setup required), Remove background noise only (no extra setup), and No filtering (default).
  • Voice Access also gains Korean language support and improved reliability when starting the feature.
  • File Explorer: Details view will now show file sizes using appropriate units (KB, MB, GB), middle‑click in the Address Bar and Home page opens a folder in a new tab, and Home page thumbnails and load behavior have been improved for crisper appearance and to remove a grey flash or unexpected scrolling.
  • Touchpad: new gesture controls for precision touchpads expose scroll and zoom speed adjustments and an Accelerated scrolling option so repeated gestures increase scroll speed.
  • Widgets and taskbar: taskbar notification badges will use the Windows accent color rather than defaulting to red, and Lock screen Widgets for new users will show Weather alone by default.
  • Windows Hello ESS: Enhanced Sign‑in Security now supports peripheral fingerprint sensors, extending ESS beyond built‑in sensors to desktops and other Windows 11 PCs, including Copilot+ PCs. Microsoft notes this was previously disclosed in January 2026 (KB5074105) and is now beginning to roll out.
  • AI Component: the update allows removal of the Image Generation AI component on supported Copilot+ PCs where that component is installed.

Systemwide polish: regional time data, networking, printing, and general reliability

  • Date & Time: improved daylight saving time data accuracy for Middle East Standard Time (Beirut), Morocco Standard Time (Casablanca), Israel Standard Time (Jerusalem), and Greenland Standard Time (Nuuk).

  • Print: better page‑per‑minute performance for IPPS printers.
  • Clipboard: improved reliability in some Remote Desktop and Azure Virtual Desktop scenarios.
  • General reliability: explorer.exe, Jump Lists, recent files, Task View, multiple desktops, sign‑in and lock screens under low memory, and Start menu and taskbar during startup all receive reliability improvements.
