Anthropic Extends Access to Claude Fable 5 for Paid Users

"We’ve extended this promotion through July 19, 2026 at 11:59:59 PM PT," Anthropic noted in a support document.

Anthropic buys one more week for paid subscribers

Anthropic has again extended access to Claude Fable 5 for paid subscribers, moving the expiration to July 19, 2026 at 11:59:59 PM PT. The company previously limited Fable 5 to paid tiers only through July 7, then extended that window to July 12, and has now granted another seven days. Anthropic said the 50% increase to Claude Code weekly usage limits has also been extended through the same date.

Which paid seats get the extension

The promotion now applies to Claude Pro, Max, Team, and premium seats on seat-based Enterprise plans — but only where those premium seats are enabled by the organization. Anthropic’s support note makes clear the extension is targeted at paid subscriptions and premium, seat-based Enterprise configurations rather than universal access.

How Fable 5 counts against your weekly allowance

Under the extended promotion, you may use Fable 5 for up to 50% of your weekly subscription limits at no extra charge. There is nothing to claim or activate: Fable 5 draws from the same weekly usage pool as other Claude models. Anthropic warns, however, that Fable 5 consumes that weekly limit faster than other Claude models.

When a user reaches the 50% weekly Fable 5 allowance they have two paths. They can either continue using Fable 5 by purchasing and applying usage credits — which Anthropic says are billed separately — or switch to another Claude model and continue to work inside the remaining limits of their plan.

Where and how users can access Fable 5

  • Fable 5 can be accessed across Claude on the web, Claude Mobile, Claude Desktop, Claude Cowork, Claude Code, Claude Design, Claude for Microsoft 365, Claude for Teams, and Claude Tag.
  • In Claude on the web, desktop, and mobile you select "Fable 5" from the model picker.
  • Claude Code requires version 2.1.170 or later to access Fable 5, while Claude Cowork requires the latest Claude Desktop app.

Who is not covered by the promotion

Anthropic explicitly excludes several groups from the free, paid-seat promotion. The extension does not apply to Free users, standard seats on seat-based Enterprise plans, usage-based Enterprise plans, or API usage. For any users outside the promoted seat types, access to Fable 5 would therefore not be covered by this extension.

What this means for Pro/Max/Team and Free/API users

  • Pro, Max, Team, and premium, seat-based Enterprise users: You get another week of complimentary access to Fable 5 up to 50% of your weekly allowance; if you hit that cap you must either use paid usage credits or switch models.
  • Free users, standard seat Enterprise, usage-based Enterprise, and API users: The extension does not apply — these accounts are excluded from the free Fable 5 promotion and would not receive the extra week of access.
  • Developers using Claude Code or Claude Cowork: Be sure you meet the client-version requirements — Claude Code needs version 2.1.170 or later, and Cowork needs the latest Claude Desktop app — to access Fable 5 where the promotion is enabled.

Anthropic’s move gives paid subscribers a clear, time-limited window to use the company’s most powerful model without extra charge, while reaffirming that heavier use will draw on finite weekly allocations or require separately billed credits. The new cut-off — July 19, 2026 at 11:59:59 PM PT — is now the date all affected users should mark on their calendars.
